A message for Catholic, engaged couples…

Invest in a Catholic Wedding Photographer

“Then the man said, ‘This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh.’”

— Genesis 2:23

There’s a sacredness in the body and blood.

The very first book of Sacred Scripture opens with the marriage between man and woman, as God commands man to leave his father and mother to “become one flesh” and to “be fruitful and multiply.”

The first miracle Christ performed was at a wedding where he transformed water into wine and opened the doors for us to experience a new wine.

The source and summit of our Catholic faith is found in the crucified body and the blood of Christ that gushed forth from his heart as a fount of mercy for us.

It is not by happenstance that the Holy Mass is regarded as the heavenly wedding banquet. It is quite literally the wedding feast of the Lamb—a nuptial celebration between Christ and his Church, the Bridegroom and his Bride.

Your wedding mass is no different.

— A New Lens —

I didn’t begin my creative career with the intention in the back of my mind to focus on the Catholic photography niche. It just happened to turn out that way. And that’s what happens when we allow Christ to shine through our talents. Things just… happen. A hundredfold.

I was baptized Catholic, grew up in a Catholic household, studied Theology at a Catholic college, and (as best as this sinner/wanna-be saint can do) implement my faith into everything I do. Photography was no exception.

I think people started noticing how much I emphasized the importance of reverence in the Holy Mass. They saw how detailed I was in photographing the rosary or the wedding bands. They observed how much I enjoyed capturing unique moments like the consecration to Jesus through Mary and the elevation of the host and chalice. Everything I did suddenly had a new lens to it.

It takes three to get married.

There is no arguing that Holy Matrimony is one of the seven sacraments. Your wedding is an outward sign of an inward reality because it truly takes three to get married: the bride, the groom, and the Bridegroom.

Ultimately, it is your decision on who you hire as your wedding photographer. But I can say with confidence that there is a stark difference between a Catholic wedding photographer and a photographer who has photographed Catholic weddings. I have heard horror stories from priests and coordinators of photographers who have used their flash during Mass, stepped into the sanctuary, or distracted the congregation.

You and your beloved will be ministers of this beautiful sacrament. You will declare and consent your love in the house of the Lord. You will consume the real Body and Blood of Christ. Get you a photographer who captures your special day with poise and reverence. You deserve someone who can capture the rich reality of what your wedding truly is: a heavenly wedding feast between Christ and his Church.

I hope I can be that photographer for you and your beloved.
